SO Fine Art Editions is proud to announce the opening of our annual photography exhibition, ‘Drawing with Light’, showcasing nine leading Irish and international photographers. The exhibition opens on 05 July, 2025 and runs until 28 July at our Dublin gallery on the second floor in the Powerscourt Centre.

This dynamic group show features work by Diane Arbus, Philip Arneill, Michael Corrigan, Conor Horgan, Clare Langan, Loretta Lux, Fionn McCann, Brían Sparks, Amelia Stein, Sudi and Dominic Turner. From documentary realism to conceptual abstraction, ‘Drawing with Light’ explores photography’s power to tell stories, reframe perceptions, and invite reflection through diverse visual languages.

We are delighted, and piviledged to be adding works by photographers Diane Arbus, Philip Arneill, Michael Corrigan, Brían Sparks & Loretta Lux to our stable of photographers this year.

Diane Arbus (1923–1971) was an influential American photographer best known for her striking black-and-white portraits of people on the fringes of society. Her subjects included circus performers, transgender individuals, people with disabilities, and others often overlooked or marginalised. Arbus had a unique ability to capture the raw humanity of her subjects, often portraying them with directness and empathy. Arbus’s work challenged traditional notions of beauty and normalcy, sparking both acclaim and controversy. Her photographs appeared in publications like Harper’s Bazaar and Esquire, and she became the first American photographer to have work exhibited at the Venice Biennale. After her death, her legacy grew, culminating in a major retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in 1972. Today, Diane Arbus is considered a pioneer of modern portrait photography.

Loretta Lux (born 1969) is a German fine art photographer known for her surreal, meticulously crafted portraits of children. Her work blends photography, painting, and digital manipulation to create haunting, otherworldly images that challenge traditional notions of childhood and innocence. Lux’s photographs have been exhibited internationally and are part of major museum collections, including The Museum of Modern Art in New York and the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles. Celebrated for her unique aesthetic and philosophical depth, she remains a key figure in contemporary art photography.

Philip Arneill is the author of the best-selling photobook ‘Tokyo Jazz Joints’ and co-creator and photographer of the ‘Tokyo Jazz Joints’ audiovisual project. A Belfast-born photographer and researcher, his work explores identity, place, and cultural boundaries, informed by his experience living in Scotland, Egypt and Japan, and from his M.A. in Photojournalism & Documentary Photography from the University of the Arts London.

Brían Sparks is a photographer and image collector whose work is rooted in patterns, visual connections and emotional resonance. His intuitive process weaves together past and present, offering a reflective and curated view of personal and cultural memory. Sparks’ practice evokes discovery, storytelling and quiet introspection, inviting viewers to engage with the interplay between images and meaning.

Michael Corrigan, grandson of the founder of Corrigan & Corrigan (est. 1906), has had a long career in law and art advocacy, including as co-author of Casebook of Irish Insurance Law, and former Chair of Visual Artists Ireland. A passionate supporter of the arts, Corrigan has more recently transitioned into photography, bringing a thoughtful and studied eye to his visual practice.

Other exhibiting artists include:

Conor Horgan is an Irish visual artist and editorial photographer whose narrative-driven approach spans both photography and film. The work featured is from the series ‘Disco Vegetables’ and is a vibrant celebration of life – bursting with saturated colour and playful energy. The work reflects Horgan’s unique ability to find joy and story in the unexpected.

Clare Langan, a member of Aosdána, is a widely acclaimed Irish artist whose atmospheric landscapes are held in prestigious international public and private collections. She has represented Ireland in major international biennales and continues to create emotionally resonant, cinematic works.

Fionn McCann creates contemplative photographs that explores the relationship between built structures and the surrounding landscape. Drawn to form, shape and geometry, his images reflect a “slow documentary” approach, capturing the quiet interplay between people, place and architecture.

Amelia Stein RHA is one of Ireland’s most respected photographers and the first female photographer elected to Aosdána. Renowned for her powerful landscapes, her beautifully executed photographs highlight a meticulous attention to detail and an eye for finding beauty – imbuing every element with a quiet, compelling narrative.

Sudi is a Japanese-born artist whose lyrical, light-filled photographs evolved from a desire to express poetry through images. Her work is deeply rooted in the use of light and shadow and is held in private collections in Japan, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Ireland.

Dominic Turner is an accomplished photographer and master printer who often adopts a layered approach to image-making, focusing on abstractions of the traditional photographic aesthetic. His work frequently invites investigation, revealing the complexities of perception and visual truth.

‘Drawing with Light’ is a celebration of photography as both craft and commentary, offering a rich and layered experience for viewers and collectors alike.
