Owen de Forge: Outlandish
Outlandish is a meditation on the role of nature in the built environment, how it is both marginalised and idealised in the way we design and shape our cities. In this exhibition, using unconventional canvas shapes, de Forge encourages the viewer to rediscover positive relationships with nature, built on curiosity, playfulness, and respect.
Owen de Forge is a Dublin-based artist working across multiple disciplines including painting, sculpture, drawing, and documentary photography. Already a multi-award-winning artist de Forge is currently shortlisted for the Hennessy Craig Award and Homan Potterton Prize 2026. His work is held in various collections including Trinity College Dublin’s Art Collection, the OPW State Art Collection, and NI Civil Service Art Collection.
Exhibiting nationally, de Forge has worked with curators including Amanda Coogan, Sara Muthi and Salvator of Lucan. Previous exhibitions include group shows ‘A painting show this Good Friday’ at The Dean Art Studios (2024); The Hennessy Craig Award Exhibition at RHA, (2022); and solo show ‘Will we go look for a mole hole?’ at The Dean Art Studios (2023).
For his solo show at Garter Lane de Forge will showcase new sculptural pieces that he has created in Firestation Artists Studios (Dublin) under the mentorship of artist Cecilia Bullo.
Exhibitions at Garter Lane are kindly funded by the Arts Council of Ireland, Waterford City & County Council, and the Department of Social Protection. ‘Outlandish’ by Owen de Forge is also directly supported by Firestation Artists Studios, Dublin.
