Butler Gallery Permanent Collection, donated by Betty Cunningham (NYC) | close-up still image of the face of a child, cropped to just show eyes, eyebrows, nose; the left side of the face, as we see it, is almost in darkness, while the other side is lit from the right

Mind’s Eye focuses on the traditional medium of drawing. This work expresses the joy and frustration of a young artist’s attempt to render the grace and elegance of a constantly moving horse. It deals with the duality of existence, the inner and outer realities manifesting themselves in the renderings of a small boy.

Simon Reilly is an Irish artist who lives and works in Los Angeles. His work is included in many American, European and Irish collections, both public and private.

His main practice is painting but over the years he has produced a consistently strong body of video-based work.
