Greyfriars Gallery
Waterford's premier art gallery with 8 exhibitions annually. Greyfriars, for six months of the year, is also home to the prestigious Waterford Municipal Collection. Greyfriars has also played host to Katie Kim, Percolator, Liam Clancy, and the late John McGahern. It is also home for the Seán Dunne Writer’s Festival and The Waterford Film Festival amongst others.
Built in the early 19th century, this late Victorian church built in gothic revival style was home to the Waterford Methodists until 1973. It was eventually bought by Waterford City Council in 1989 and was adapted by them for use as the Municipal Art Gallery. The building provides a permanent home for the Municipal Art Collection and houses a fascinating collection of works, including pieces from renowned irish artists such as Jack B Yeats, Charles Lamb and Louis Le Brocquy.
