Glór

glór is a multi-disciplinary arts centre located in the heart of Ennis. Built at a cost of €8.5m, glór was the largest investment in the Arts in County Clare and hosts local, national and international music, theatre, talks, dance, Film, comedy and visual arts events throughout the year. Following the official opening in November 2001, over 60 great Clare performers – three generations of the best players of Clare music took to glór’s stage to present the first of three nights of the best music ever staged in the county.
glór kicked off its first year of operation with a series of glór Gigs, a special series of Irish music events, which were widely acclaimed, and since then the venue has firmly established itself as an integral part of both the national and local cultural landscape, working with over 59 local and community groups, as well as national and international performers – too many to mention but including Sebastian Barry, Maura O’Connell, John Prine, Tommy Peoples, Kíla, Kate Adi, John Bishop, Sharon Shannon, Druid Theatre Company, BellX1, The RTÉ Concert & Symphony Orchestras, Baboró International Arts Festival for Children, Mary Black, Martin Hayes & The Gloaming, Lisa Hannigan and Rough Magic Theatre Company.
In 2024, we celebrated 23 years of cultural highlights in Ennis and Clare, and we welcomed the opening of Clare’s new County Library & Gallery adjoining glór which has created an exciting cultural complex that will strengthen Clare’s reputation as a cultural centre, as well as support economic and social activity in Ennis.
