Yazan Khalili: All The Languages of Our Tongues

A series of works that use merchandise as a medium and a type of economy, here comprising 14 purchasable scarves that carry a poetic text written by the artist.
Each scarf is a discrete fragment of the overall text, front and back – evoking images of land, bodies, and political struggle – that, when assembled together, read as a modular poem of hope and solidarity. As an artwork that is a wearable fragment of a poetic whole, the work represents a form of knowledge transmission that resists the political feed of algorithmic and artificial intelligence. A limited number of scarves are purchasable via the EVA shop at eva.ie. Proceeds from sales of the scarves will be used to support grassroots cultural initiatives directed by the artist outside the framework of cultural funding and institutional endorsement.
Yazan Khalili lives and works in and out of Palestine and The Netherlands. He is a researcher, artist, and cultural producer. His practice frames landscapes, institutions, and social and technological phenomena as politicised entities. He was the director of Khalil Sakakini Cultural Centre in Ramallah (2015–2019), and has co-founded various platforms and infrastructures for cultural practices, including The Question of Funding in 2019, and Radio Alhara in 2020. He is currently a PhD candidate at ASCA, University of Amsterdam.
