WERK // HEAT RASH | Friday 18 July 2014 | IMMA

Friday 18 July, 8:30pm – 1am • As part of SUMMER RISING: The IMMA Festival

Tickets on sale from: https://www.showclix.com/event/3854714. The booking line for Werk closes at 12noon Friday, 18 July.

Theatre makers THISISPOPBABY are creating a very special edition of their performance and art club WERK for the SUMMER RISING at the Irish Museum of Modern Art on 18 July.

“It’s our biggest, boldest and most ambitious WERK to date” – THISISPOPBABY Co-Director Phillip McMahon

They will be teaming up with long-term design collaborators Pony Ltd (THISISPOPBABY at Electric Picnic, Powderbubble, Offset) and collaborating with Live Collision curators to transform The Chapel at IMMA and its surroundings into a blistering haze of neon, discotheque, live art and performance.

WERK // HEAT RASH will be hosted by Panti ‘National Treasure’ Bliss while DJ Chewy will be throwing down the dance floor tunes. The rest of the line-up is, as always, top secret.

Named as Best Night Out 2010 by The Sunday Times, WERK was born in the bowels of the Abbey Theatre, baptized in the fields of Electric Picnic and deflowered on the banks of the Yarra at Melbourne Festival, and HEAT RASH will be the 11th Issue of this occasional club event.

“We give each issue of WERK a name, which is a kind of gut response to what is happening in the world around us at the time. The name, the graphic design and the brief we write then informs what the artists do and how the audience engages…and when everything comes together on the night there’s a real sense of community and catharsis” THISISPOPBABY Co-Director Jennifer Jennings

SUMMER RISING: The IMMA Festival, from Friday 18 to Saturday 26 July, is a joyous explosion of art, music, food and performance taking taking place in IMMA’s beautiful gardens and historic North Wing, in celebration of the much anticipated exhibition Propositions by Brazilian artist Hélio Oiticica.
