West Cork Arts Centre’s Members’ Exhibition 2017
Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre is delighted to announce the opening of our always popular event West Cork Arts Centre’s Members’ Exhibition 2017. Running annually for more than 30 years, this exhibition showcases work by artists from across West Cork and beyond, at all stages of their careers. Submission is open to the many artists who subscribe to our Membership scheme and this year also includes our new Friendship scheme. This gives our artist Members and Friends the opportunity to exhibit across both the James O’Driscoll Gallery on the ground floor, and upstairs in Gallery II. Often including 300 or more individual artworks by professional, student and amateur artists, this exhibition really has something for every taste and budget. Sculptors, painters, printmakers, ceramicists, photographers, fine artists and craftspeople bring you examples of their best work in this annual celebration of creativity and artistic skills from across the board.
The opening event will take place on Friday 28 April at 7pm and all are welcome to join us in celebrating the wealth of local talent on display. The exhibition will be opened by local poet and artist Paul Ó Colmáin, with entertainment on the evening from musician Fintan McKahey.
This year your experience of the exhibition can be enriched by a number of additional events. Two of our older artist Members, Sonia Bidwell and Fran Woolf will be in residence in Studio 3 from 8 – 27 May, as part of Bealtaine, celebrating creativity as we age, and will be happy to meet with gallery visitors to talk about their work in the exhibition and work in progress in the studio. Tours of the exhibition will be available on selected Saturdays throughout May, and a special National Drawing Day event will take place in the gallery on Saturday 20 May, with exhibiting artists drawing live in the gallery throughout the day.
Monday to Saturday, 10am to 4:30pm
