As part of Science Gallery’s new exhibition VISCERAL: THE LIVING ART EXPERIMENT, ground-breaking art science lab SymbioticA will host a symposium that will cover cultural strategies that engage with and scrutinise development in the life sciences, with a particular emphasis on hands-on artistic research embedded within a biological laboratory. Two of SymbioticA’s co-founders and a selection of SymbioticA residents will speak on art and biology from different perspectives: political, ethical, historical, aesthetical and more.

Co-founder and Director of SymbioticA – the Centre of Excellence in biological Arts, School of Anatomy and Human Biology, the University of Western Australia. Co-curator of Visceral – the Living Art Experiment.

Artist and Assistant Professor, Communication Studies, Department at Concordia University and Director of Fluxmedia lab.

Miranda D. Grounds (AUS)

Professor, School of Anatomy and Human Biology, The University of Western Australia (UWA). Co-Founder of SymbioticA – the Centre of Excellence in Biological Arts, School of Anatomy and Human Biology, at the University of Western Australia.

Adele Senior (UK)
