Lucy Andrews, Ramon Kassam, Emmet Kierans, Kevin Kirwan, Bea McMahon, Laura McMorrow, Mark O’Kelly, Magda Marysia Wieckiewicz
Prominent national artists Bea McMahon and Mark O’Kelly are invited to present recent work and to select the work of three emerging artists, in a format that considers curatorial criteria. Partly informed by their pedagogical experiences McMahon and O’Kelly have selected the best emergent practitioners from the east and west of the country and showcased the work of Lucy Andrews, Kevin Kirwan and Magda Marysia Wieckiewicz and Ramon Kassam, Emmet Kierans and Laura McMorrow.
Further relationships have emerged between the artworks, with threads of interest involving abjection, sinister undertones and materials poised on a moment of change and a process based interest in gathering, saving and selecting implied in some of the artworks. Transitive Relationships considers the artists’ engagement with the surrounding world and the notion that these interactions and process based investigations have a universal element. In mathematics the term notates a series of equivalent relationships.
