”room” is an artist led space at The Model designated to the resident studio artists. From November 5th 2011 the listed artists will be involved in a collaborative time-based multi media installation that contemplates relationships between process, concept, impact and aesthetics. By facilitating an exploration of ideas through film, sound, the spoken word and written word, (sub)TEXT opens up dialogues between the participating artists and the viewer challenging the experience and perception of ‘room’ as a contemporary art space.

(sub)TEXT is multi vocal incorporating the artists and those involved in the critical reflection and articulation of the project. Artists will fill the entire gallery space with written text; working directly on the walls of the space, using the medium of graphite pencil. Each artist will direct what they write and as one artist finishes, the next artist will continue to write. The exhibition will begin with a white space and conclude with the entire space filled with text. This process will be documented though audio and time-lapse photography and will evolve over a period of two weeks. The audience will be invited to watch artists as they make their written pieces.

An archival document with contributions from Emer Mc Garry, Ronan Mc Crea, Louis Mc Manus and Greg Mc Laughlin amongst others will evaluate and disseminate the project. The document / catalogue will be produced midway through the project on the 10th December 2011.
