Shorelines
Shorelines is an international exchange project, between Ireland and Newfoundland, Canada, with three artists representing each place. The exhibition is co-curated by Seán McCrum, Ireland and Charlotte Jones, Newfoundland.
Specific shorelines in Newfoundland and Ireland provide creative resources, which relate to place and community, Francophone and Irish speaking. The artists have used these resources to explore metaphor and allusion in the word and place shoreline. One Newfoundland artist, Angela Anthle, worked with a francophone school, L’Ecole Notre Dame du Cap at Port au Port,
Newfoundland and with Ghaeilcholaiste Chiarrai in Tralee.
Irish-based artists Anthony Kelly, David Stalling and Slavek Kwi work with installations using sound, moving images and objects. Newfoundland-based artists Angela Antle and Anne Troake both work with electronic imaging and sound, while Pierre LeBlanc’s installation involves still photography.
