Seán Mac Erlaine + Donal Dineen: Duo Tour
Galway Arts Centre is delighted to present an evening of music and visual collaboration from 8pm on Saturday 23 March in Nun’s Island Theatre, Galway. Acclaimed musician Seán Mac Erlaine and visual artist, DJ and broadcaster Donal Dineen present a circular dialogue between lush improvised soundscapes and expressive and experimental live film.
This evening combines improvisations and music from Seán’s new solo album, innovative and beautiful visual art from Donal as well as presenting both artists in an engaging open conversation where the audience discovers what drives these artists to create new work in the moment.
Seán’s new solo album ‘Long After The Music Is Gone’ blends acoustic woodwinds (saxophones, clarinet and bass clarinet) with live electronics. “An extraordinary solo recording… Consistently one of the most interesting and adventurous musicians of his generation.” – The Irish Times.
Donal Dineen first exhibited as a photographer in 1993 and has since worked extensively in radio, photography, film, TV and music curation. Donal’s improvisatory approach to live visuals is informed by his practice as one of Ireland’s foremost DJs.
Tickets are €10 / €8, available on the door. Nuns Island Theatre does not have a license to sell alcohol so audiences are advised to look after their own refreshments. Soft drinks will be provided by the venue free of charge.
