The RPA-Luas Art Competition is an annual competition which has been widely acclaimed since its inception in 2007. This year’s competition invited artists aged 16 years or over to submit artwork based on the theme of ‘Luas taking you to the Heart of Dublin’.

Submissions were accepted in any art form from visual or written work, digital reproductions of paintings, sculpture, graphic design, comic design, photography, poetry, short stories and comedy writing.

During the summer, Luas supported a range of activities and events which were aimed at helping Dubliners and non-Dubliners alike to discover the wide range of attractions which are available in the heart of Dublin City. This year’s RPA-Luas Art Competition builds on this success and is designed to highlight Dublin’s attractions, particularly those which are close to the Luas lines.

This exhibition displays the winning entry and eleven runners-up from this year’s competition using a range of mediums. The winning entry is displayed on all Luas Stops and Luas trams, and is the cover and one of the month images in the RPA-Luas 2011 Calendar.

The RPA-Luas Art Competition opens for entries each September, see www.luas.ie for information.
