Richard Skelton: Landings
Friday 22 July – Monday 29 August 2011
Opening reception Thursday 21 July, 6 – 7:30pm
Richard Skelton, who has spent the last year or so living on the west coast of Ireland, is well-known as a composer – he was recently featured on the cover of ‘The Wire’ magazine. ‘Landings’, possibly his most ambitious work to date, is the culmination of several years of recording on the moors and hillsides of his native northern England; the music is a form of diary, a dialogue with the landscape. It has a sense of narrative and place that is both engaging and intimate.
At this exhibition visitors can listen to ‘Landings’ on headphones and read the book of writings and texts that Skelton has assembled to accompany the music.
