PULSE
PULSE is an exciting new initiative introduced by Limerick City Gallery of Art (LCGA) in the wake of the devastating impact of COVID 19. Specifically, PULSE is a response to the group of new graduates, many of whom were denied a Degree Show or opportunities to exhibit their work more widely.
PULSE was an Open Submission where graduates from Irish colleges between 2017-2021 were invited to submit a sample of their work for inclusion in this prestigious institution. A total of 113 applications were received and a final selection of 16 artists was made. The external adjudicators included Director of the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA), Patrick Murphy and internationally renowned artist, Aideen Barry.
Speaking of this important development Director/Curator of LCGA, Úna McCarthy said “this is a significant new development for us as it is the first time that LCGA have selected an exhibition through an open submission process and it will be the first opportunity for many of these recent graduates to have their work included in such an important venue. It also demonstrates our commitment to providing valuable opportunities for younger artists to exhibit their work to a large and discerning audience”.
