Pictiúr is an exciting new exhibition of the work of some of Ireland’s leading children’s book illustrators which has been curated by Laureate na nÓg, Niamh Sharkey. Pictiúr features illustrations by 21 illustrators from or living in Ireland. In the first half of 2013, Pictiúr undertook a European tour as part of Culture Connects, Ireland’s cultural programme to celebrate Ireland’s holding the Presidency of the European Council. Pictiúr visited the Festival for Young Readers at the Palais Auersperg in Vienna, Austria, where it was seen by 13,000 visitors; it also appeared at the Bologna Book Fair, the European Parliament building in Brussels and the Leuven Institute for Ireland in Europe. Draíocht is delighted to host the Irish Premiere of Pictiúr’s tour of Ireland. The tour is supported by the Arts Council’s Touring and Dissemination Scheme and the Arts Office in Fingal County Council.
