Peter Nash: The Future Is Not Necessarily Set In Stone
Wednesday 23 October – Friday 25 October 2019
The opening event will consist of a brief introduction by the artist to his stop motion animation The Future is Not Necessarily Set in Stone followed by the film’s screening (duration 10 min). Alongside the screening there will be a display of the puppets complete with their props and sets.
This work is a continuation of Peter Nash’s ongoing research into pre-internet sources of knowledge and methods of communication. By embracing a deliberately hand-made aesthetic and drawing on influences including 1970s & 80s children’s television programmes, fairy tales, half-remembered stories and museum visits he seeks to provide a visual counterpoint to the computer generated imagery and plastic sheen that dominate the current era.
This is an informal event to which all are most welcome. There will be some refreshments provided, but please feel free to bring along a few drinks or snacks as we hope for a social evening of art, chats and imagination.
