This new series of paintings finds Graham engaging with global concerns most of us share; the breakdown of structures perhaps no longer fit for purpose, our planet, environment, culture and society all in a state of uncertainty and disintegration.

That an image of an ark is found in many of Graham’s new works seems appropriate, given our rising sea levels, but of course it is also a reminder of God’s covenant with mankind to care for the natural world; one we have failed spectacularly –  failing in our responsibilities to each other and to creation. But don’t despair, new life and hope are here too;  like “the lark at break of day arising / From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven’s gate” reminding us to rediscover the joy in ourselves and the world.
