Open Call to the Public for the People’s Exhibition
Conflicting Visions In A Turbulent Age 1900–1916 • Open Call To The Public For The People’s Exhibition
We would like to include your history in our forthcoming exhibition, Conflicting Visions in a Turbulent Age 1900-1916 (June 3- August 27, 2016). In preparation for this, the Crawford Art Gallery, in partnership with the curator of the exhibition, Dr Éimear O’Connor HRHA, invite you, the public, to bring your personal family items: diaries, letters, clothing, posters, medals etc., to a specially-convened people’s history day at the gallery on Saturday 21 November 2015.
This is an innovative opportunity for the gallery to link the narrative of Conflicting Visions in a Turbulent Age 1900-1916 with individual stories and personal histories pertaining to the time. Come along with your items, which must have a date range between 1900 and 1916, and we will photograph and document them, for the purposes of the exhibition, free of charge. We will then create an ongoing digitised exhibition of images of all the items photographed on the day which will be shown as ‘The People’s Exhibition’ for the duration of Conflicting Visions in a Turbulent Age, 1900-1916.
In addition, Dr Éimear O’Connor and her team may chose some items, which, subject to the owner’s agreement, will be made available for display in the exhibition.
