Niamh O’Malley: Model
Opening Reception: Thursday 6 October, 6 – 8pm
In the exhibition Model O’Malley is interested in how the process of scrutiny can itself be perceived and marked. As part of this enquiry, in her recent works she has been developing a highly stylized and rhythmic process to interrogate the act of selection, framing and production of an image. She is also interested in the nature of the image as a surface and the point of materialization where the image/subject has been transposed to another mode. This exhibition will include new works which take a variety of speculative forms including pencil drawings framed under coloured glass and a new video installation Model.
Recent exhibitions include 2011: Dublin Contemporary, Kunstverein Ludwigsburg, 2010: Centre Culturel Montehermoso, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris, Gaain Gallery, Seoul, South Korea, 2009: Void, Derry, Northern Ireland, Galleri Flach-Thulin, Stockholm, Green on Red Gallery, Dublin, 2008 Arge Kunst, Bozen Italy, Temple Bar Gallery, Dublin, Kenworthy-Ball, Zurich, Galerie Baumet Sultana, Paris, Previous: Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art, London, Palazzo delle Papesse, Siena, PS1, MoMa, New York.
