Moments of Being

Colin Martin: Procedural City (Zorn Palette), 2024, oil on canvas | Moments of Being | Saturday 18 January – Saturday 15 March 2025 | Solstice Arts Centre | Image: Colin Martin: Procedural City (Zorn Palette), 2024, oil on canvas | almost photorealistic painting of an imagined city which also resembles an externalised production line at a very complex factory; there are what look like steps everywhere, but also what look like signalling equipment – antennae, etc.; the colours are all shades of white, and the whole is in fairly strong sunligh coming from top left; there is one tall building just right of centre; there is no indication as to its purpose; it has no windows, in common with most and maybe all the buildings
Opening Reception Saturday 18 January at 2:30pm

Ideas and themes explored include personal narratives, observations of everyday life, the body, identity and place, the natural world, contemporary culture, history, politics, the real and the virtual, and the materiality and essence of painting.

Several of the paintings are new and exhibited for the first time at Solstice Arts Centre.
