Melita Denaro: Not Far from Here, oil on canvas, 104 x 124.5cm | Melita Denaro: The Tenderness of Attention | Friday 10 June – Saturday 2 July 2011 | Taylor Galleries

Opening Reception on Thursday 9 June from 6 to 8pm

The Tenderness of Attention is an exhibition of new work by Melita Denaro presented in two parts by Taylor Galleries in association with John Martin Gallery, London, where the exhibition runs from 3 to 25 June 2011. The Tenderness of Attention opens in Ireland with a private view at Taylor Galleries from 6 to 8pm on Thursday 9 June 2011 and continues until 2 July 2011.

The Tenderness of Attention is Melita Denaro’s first solo show with Taylor Galleries since 2006 and this new work continues to explore her connection with the dramatic landscape of the Isle of Doagh in Clonmany, Co. Donegal. The intimate and personal sense of place that Melita captures in her work is paralleled in the detailed descriptions that she uses to title her paintings, which Charles Tyrrell describes in the accompanying catalogue as ‘real, robust, straight from the hip, straight from the heart… Dramatic, quick, bold and brave’.
