Mel Brimfield: Quantum Foam
For one day only, Thursday 11 December, The LAB will host a series of films by critically acclaimed UK artist Mel Brimfield.
At 6pm we’ll take a break from the screening for audiences to enjoy a conversation between the artist and Francis Halsall, critic and academic. This is a rare opportunity to see Mel Brimfield’s new work, Quantum Foam, commissioned by Kinsale Arts Festival.

With the release of his 3rd full-length album finally in sight, experimental musician Rory Grubb takes some time to explore the lavish sound of his very own
Electric Ceramophone – a huge, custom-made percussion instrument. Evocative, visceral and often dark, Grubb’s hallmark layering style takes the audience with him on a unique and textural sound journey.

The Grand Scheme
Exhibition by Vera Klute will be open until 8pm
This exhibition includes new work by Dublin based artist Vera Klute including kinetic sculptures, a 5m high video projection, tapestry and drawing. Themes are inspired by everyday life and utilize familiar objects and imagery. The artist looks at how we perceive the outside world and our place in it, and sees the individual as displaced in its own habitat. Like a natural scientist the artist is attempting to make sense of an often absurd everyday life with its cycles, routines and habits.
(6-8pm)
