Graphic Studio Gallery is delighted to present Seascape, an exhibition comprised of new and selected original prints by Mary Lohan.

Well-known for her contemplative distinctive depictions of the Irish coastline, this show brings together a series of new original prints by Mary Lohan, that were made at Graphic Studio Dublin over the past few months and an exquisite body of pre-existing etchings.

 “From the shore, the sea is fascinating, hypnotic. It’s vast and empty, and yet what you’re looking at is never still. Not just the waves moving endlessly across the surface, and the tides advancing and retreating. It changes in tiny ways, slowly – and then in a big way, often really quickly. And the light. The light changes with the passing hours, and with the passing weather. It’s so beautiful, but it’s also frightening, a bit like ‘the silence of those infinite spaces’ in the night sky that so disturbed Blaise Pascal.”  Mary Lohan.

Sublime and expansive, Lohan’s new carborundum prints capture the scale and depth of looking out upon a vast ocean, sky and distant headland.
