Maggie Madden: somewhere in the middle
Limerick City Gallery of Art is delighted to present new exhibitions by two exciting artists, Maggie Madden and Amanda Coogan, both graduates of LSAD
Madden likes to work with found materials. Her use of discarded telephone cable, and more recently fibre-optic cable, offer a palette of colour and opportunity for imaginative associations.
“Maggie Madden’s progeny are slight, delicate, formal and whispering and it is in the latter quality that they capture our attention and reverse their audibility to a scream of associations both poignant and relevant” Patrick T Murphy
Born in Connemara, and living in Dublin, Madden’s most recent solo exhibition was hardly audible, at mother’s tankstation, Dublin 2016. She has participated in group shows including Future Anthologies, RHA 2015 and Tulca, Galway, 2015. She has been the recipient of awards and residencies and recently completed a one year Project Studio at Temple Bar Gallery+ Studios.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a brochure with texts by Sarah Baume and Patrick T. Murphy.
