Studio open to the public Friday & Saturday

During my time at Uillinn I will be exploring the relationship between the sculptural elements of concrete, scrap metal and that of hand processed Super 8 film. My practice will include making, writing and drawing, I will be probing questions of class, trans-masculinity and gentrification. My ambition is to create a series of sculptures that correspond and relate to the fragility of hand developed film and that of last century materials. I will be working with personal story and family history with the ambition to create a series of sculptures that form part of a multi-disciplinary project.

The aim of my residency at Uillinn, is to have a period of focused time to create a new body of work that will form part of a wider multi-disciplinary project. I will use my time on the residency to continue the conversations I had begun whilst making Zone 4 and to explore new techniques such as engraving, inlaying and casting.

I will also be delving into my family history and personal story and will be writing and archiving.

I am a multi-disciplinary artist working in moving image, DIY film, sculpture and the written word. My practice is rooted in community work and activism, I believe passionately in the role art plays in community cohesion, and the positive impact it can have on people’s lives and on mental health. My work has exhibited nationally and internationally; most notably at the ICA, The Whitechapel gallery and the Southbank centre. I have also screened films on channel 4, at the BFI and at numerous festivals around the world.
