Hamilton Gallery is delighted to host an exhibition of new and selected works by John Behan, Aosdána, opening on Thursday September 1st at 8pm.

This exhibition of new and selected bronze sculptures is a mythological journey full of instinct and vitality.

“From the beginning, Celtic mythology supplied John with many of these primary images, most noteably the iconic bulls which he herded into our common consciousness from the ancient saga of Tain bo Cuailgne. So there is something appropriate about his recent engagement with the grotesque figure of Crow, a being related to another powerful spirit from the Tain, the war goddess Morrigan.” Seamus Heaney

In 2010, Behan produced a series of limited edition intaglio prints entitled “Crow”, inspired by the poetry of Ted Hughes. This series of five prints will be exhibited alongside the text of Hughes’ poem Lineage.
