Inga Ryan: A Sense of Connection

Friday 25 August – Sunday 10 September 2023
Inga Ryan: A Sense of Connection | Friday 25 August – Sunday 10 September 2023 | | Image: a painting, in oils, of a rural road, seen from the centre of that road as it converges into the distance; there is strong sunshine coming from the right, casting shadows of trees across the road; the style employs an energetic impasto, with a palette of pale yellow-green through to darker green, also reddish and blue-ish brown, dashes of near-white and some near-black

A Sense of Connection, the exciting first solo show of painter Inga Ryan will open on the evening of Thursday 24 August. The exhibition summons the abundance and energy of trees. This body of work is the culmination of an explorative process, evident in the variety of jewel colours and energetic mark making. Inga paints as a means to become connected with tree’s qualities of reliability, power and change.

Inga Ryan’s oil paintings use brushstrokes and palette knife marks to evoke the vitality and towering presence of trees. She calls on the viewer to observe the mystery of a subject that we frequently overlook.
