IMMA Modern Master Series Symposium | Gerda Frömel
Gerda Frömel – Reconstructing an Artist’s Career
Friday 17 April, 11am – 3pm, Lecture Room, IMMA
Following the opening of IMMA’s new exhibition Gerda Frömel, A Restrospective you are warmly invited to join us for a symposium in which a number of scholars, writers and enthusiasts of Gerda Frömel’s work will critically assess key developments of the artist’s short yet significant career. This new exhibition is the first since 1976 to feature Frömel’s work, and to mark the occasion the speakers will consider what Frömel’s story can teach us about the broader history, record, and practice of sculpture in Ireland.
Chaired by Paula Murphy (Associate Professor, School of Art History, UCD), papers and contributions will be presented by Riann Coulter (F.E Mac William Gallery, Banbridge), Jason Ellis (Sculptor and Conservator), Sean Kissane (Curator, IMMA), Sarah Kelleher (Lecturer, UCC), Livia Hurley (Lecturer and Director/co-founder of Graph Architects), Killian Schurmann (Gerda Frömel Estate) and others.
Tea/coffee will be provided.
Booking is essential for this event. For further information, and to reserve your place see here http://www.imma.ie/en/page_236938.htm
