Helena Hamilton: Semblance and Event
Artist Talk: Saturday 14 April, 12 noon – 1pm
The first instalment of Helena Hamilton’s solo exhibition ’Semblance and Event’ launches at the Agency Gallery, London on 17th February 2018 and will feature a collection of her work to date in a variety of media including: sound, installation, interactive digital and performance. The second instalment, at the Millennium Court Arts Centre, Northern Ireland in April 2018, will feature a more expansive re-interpretation of her work to date, with an emphasis on works that excavate and frustrate the function and appearance of objects and materials. ’Semblance and Event’ seeks to draw together old and new works that will bring into dialogue stark and austere examinations of materials and matter with processes of making that resemble ascetic practices of repetition. Through this, Hamilton seeks to untangle meaning in the everyday whilst simultaneously ingraining in her works an embodied reinterpretation that bring forth often unnoticed aspects of lived experience into visibility.
A free bus runs between Belfast and Portadown on the evening of tour openings. Leaves from Golden Thread Gallery at 6.45pm. Returns from Portadown at 9pm.
