Glendarragh Studios – 25 Years: Sanctuary
Glendarragh Studios in Co. Wicklow celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
This milestone is commemorated at Mermaid Arts Centre with a hybrid gallery residency and exhibition, where the Studio’s members recreate the atmosphere of a thriving artists community, giving an insight into varied practices including ceramics, bronze casting, painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography and gardening.
Visit and enjoy this glimpse into the working lives of professional artists, participate in informal talks, demonstrations, workshops and opportunities to chat over a cup of coffee and cake. Glendarragh Studios was founded in 1999 in response to the growing shortage of quality studio space within easy reach of Dublin. The first four purpose built studios were built with the help of LEADER, (European funding for rural Development) and a further four studios were added in 2002.
Just 35kms south of Dublin and situated in a beautiful rural valley in North County Wicklow, the Studios are surrounded by farmland. Its artists have access to three kilns for ceramic or glass work, hand and power tools, and a print studio.
