Loss is a reflection on the tens of thousands of women and children who were incarcerated for long periods of their lives in Ireland’s State-sanctioned, religious-run, residential institutions. This work acknowledges the trauma associated with this experience.

Over 30% of those that gave evidence in the Commission to inquire into Child Abuse in Ireland came from the UK to do so. The work in Loss is intended to highlight their issues and bring understanding and acknowledgment to their particular plight and the generations of children who came after them.

The work is dedicated to the women and children of the Magdalene Laundries who still await the justice denied them.
