GCN30 Exhibition
Thursday 21 June – Sunday 1 July 2018
On display during Dublin Pride Festival 2018, the GCN30 exhibition will use archival material from the much-loved publication to tell the momentous story of social change in Ireland over the last thirty years. The exhibition will chart the history of Ireland’s LGBT+ community over the past three decades through the pages of its community magazine, Gay Community News (GCN). Gay Community News is the national LGBT+ press in Ireland and is the oldest publication of its sort in the world.
Curated by GCN’s founder, Tonie Walsh, the exhibition will present the key moments that shaped LGBT+ Ireland, from decriminalisation to marriage equality and gender recognition. 30 years of political, cultural and social progress will be documented and the activists who drove those changes will be celebrated.
