fineEARTH Contemporary Ceramics

Friday 15 July – Thursday 28 July 2011
fineEARTH Contemporary Ceramics | Friday 15 July – Thursday 28 July 2011 | CIT Wandesford Quay Gallery

An exhibition of contemporary ceramics, fineEARTH showcases the work of current Honours year graduates from CIT Crawford College of Art and Design in Cork alongside past graduates, Karina Abdulbaneeva, Sara Flynn and Claire Noons.

The range of ceramic work exhibited illustrates the variety of expressions potential within the medium and highlights the many different approaches to clay used by artists today. The work ranges from delicate, thrown forms to more robust sculptural pieces and includes narrative, abstract and figurative work.

First established in the late 18th century, the college has a long history of excellence in the arts and is committed to providing a challenging and supportive environment for its students. To this end, it has recently introduced a new BA (Hons) programme – in Applied Art, Ceramics. fineEARTH marks the launch of this new course.

The exhibition has been co-curated by the graduates and Brian Kennedy, an independent curator of contemporary craft and design.
