Felicity Clear and Helen Hughes: Amongst Other Things
Amongst Other Things is an exhibition of new artworks by Felicity Clear and Helen Hughes, curated by Brenda McParland, and marks their first collaboration. The exhibition opens in the Municipal Gallery, dlr LexIcon, Dún Laoghaire on 30th January and runs until 2nd March.
Felicity Clear and Helen Hughes are interested in urban space and architecture, drawing on the modern architecture of dlr Lexicon and the urban environment of Dún Laoghaire as inspiration. Both are important mid-career artists from Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown who received their MA in Visual Arts Practice from IADT in 2007. They have exhibited their work in solo and group exhibitions in Ireland and internationally.
The Exhibition Learning Programme includes lots of free workshops, tours, a talk and a special film screening. There is a ‘How to Crochet’ workshop open to all ages with artist and crochet maker Gemma Gore and a workshop for 7-10 year olds with Felicity Clear and Helen Hughes where children will have fun making temporary sculptures. There is also a tour of the exhibition with the curator Brenda McParland and a special film screening of ‘Talking to My father’ about the celebrated architect Robin Walker.
