Dublin Underground: An Exhibition of Works Bellow Surface Level
Basic Space is a vacant warehouse obtained by artists as a space for both working and exhibiting. It is 10000 square feet warehouse, which, grants the opportunity to create large scale works that would not normally be possible for emerging artists. Until recently it still operated as a warehouse and still bears evidence and the atmosphere of industry. Adjacent to each supporting walls, are trenches of muck. Long and narrow pathways where the concrete has been removed from the surface level. In this exhibition, a specific objective was given to the participating artists: Create a site specific work that engages with the underground.
