Deirdre Frost
Ciarán Langford Memorial Bursary Exhibition 2021 • Includes partnership with Sample Studios and two venue exhibition trail.
Artist Deirdre Frost’s artwork is rooted in a phenomenological investigation into the experience of the individual in a man-made environment and their relation to the natural through this prism. Following reading Merleau-Ponty’s essay, Cézanne’s Doubt, this work looks at how we experience our surroundings. Through direct engagement with the work, the artist hopes to create a space for philosophical engagement between a duality of the man-made and nature.
Backwater Artists Group will partner with Sample Studios on the development and the presentation of a two-venue exhibition trail in St Luke’s Crypt and in our Studio 12 exhibition/project space, in September 2021. The exhibition trail will present two different aspects of the work of recent CCAD graduate Deirdre Frost.
In 2020, Deirdre secured both the TACTIC Visual Arts Programme Graduate Studio Residency at Sample Studios and the Backwater Artists Group Ciarán Langford Memorial Bursary, in addition to a number of other prestigious awards.
