An exhibition of screen prints celebrating positive mental wellbeing by the artists of Damn Fine Print comes to Waterford as part of Well festival 2016. This series of screen prints arose from a unique residency with St. Patrick’s University Hospital where the artists were invited to use the hospital walls as a blank canvas to promote their message; mental health matters.

Damn Fine Print and St Patrick’s Mental Health Services collaborated with some of Ireland’s most talented artists working in the medium of screen printing including Finbar 247, Shane O’ Malley, Will St. Leger, Vanessa Power, Eimear Gavin, Neil Dune, Steve McCarthy, Aoife Dooley and Kim Willoughby to create bespoke murals and screen prints within the hospital setting. The series of screen prints travels to Garter Lane Arts Centre as part of Well festival 2016 to inspire visitors in Waterford to mind their mental health.

Artist Will St Leger, whose work features in the Damn Fine Minds exhibition, explains that the artworks were “inspired by meeting service users and staff’ they encountered during their residency with St. Patrick’s Mental Health Services and that the artwork conveys that ‘our emotions are not static, they move and change with every moment that passes, and art is a powerful way of expressing these moments.”

Admission is free and all are welcome. Limited edition prints of the artworks will be available to purchase on www.damnfineprint.com and a portion of the proceeds will go towards St Patrick’s Mental Health Services.

Well festival 2016: This exhibition coincides with the Well festival of arts and wellbeing which will see dozens of arts and health events taking place throughout Waterford City and County from the 3rd- 10th of October.
