CONSTRUCT
An exhibition of art from the public collections of the OPW and DFP NI
Following the success of last year’s “unfold” exhibition in partnership with Rua Red in Tallaght, the Office of Public Works (OPW) and the Department of Finance and Personnel of Northern Ireland (DFP) decided to repeat the young curator’s initiative.
This year they partner with Belfast School of Art, Ulster University where eleven Undergraduates were selected.
The theme “Construct” focuses on how the students see their position in contemporary society and how the artists included respond to their times, interests, passions and place in their works. Each student has experience in animation, architecture, interactive multimedia design, fine art painting, fine art print, graphic design and sculpture. The students were given artistic freedom to develop the theme, select the artworks and participate in the catalogue designs and its content.
Working with the OPW and DFP in this way helped them to understand contemporary curatorial practices.
