Opening Thursday 1 August at 7pm by artist Rachel Parry • Commissioned for Cork County Council Visual Arts Programme

Tuesday – Saturday 10.30am – 5.30pm

Michele O’Connor Connolly’s lens based work deals with the politics of particular archeological spaces, how people lived and organized their lives and social structures and how they overlay in today’s society.

New work by Wendy Miles using found objects and natural materials (in this case chairs, ladders, oak and fig leaves), show an affinity with the natural world, and with issues of femininity and womanhood.

Jane O’Farrell’s beautiful multi layered drawings of inks and gouache deal with concepts of architectural spaces and concepts of home.

Gana Roberts is preoccupied with tales of Sweeny and the elusive nature of the present. She works in a very unique and individual way with glass and video.

– Bernadette Burns

The links in the chain that is Catena are many. These four artists brought a wealth of diverse life experience to Sherkin, they left with friendship, shared experience and compatibility of artistic expression that make this exhibition work on many levels.
