Cassie Kirby is an award winning portrait Artist who graduated from Waterford Institute of Technology with a BA Honours Degree in Visual Arts in 2011. Cassie was the recipient of the Cork Printmakers Bursary Award having been shortlisted by both WIT and Cork Printmakers.

Cassie has participated in the prestigious RHA Annual Exhibition from 2013-2020 and was awarded The AXA Insurance Prize for Drawing at the RHA Annual Exhibtioin 2013.

“My work revolves around small scale pencil portraiture. In our current climate of over consumption the solemnity of creating such time consuming small scale work allows me to create a relationship with the viewer that offers a moment of quite pause, to get close, and to examine and embrace my subject matter like a timecapsule of sorts. I am predominantly inspired by traditional art practices, I enjoy incorporating contemporary imagery and work practices to enhance my use of a traditional medium.”

Cassie’s studio is based in Ring County Waterford and her work forms part of important corporate and international private collections.
