Boundary Works II
Opening Reception on Culture Night, Friday 21 September
CIT Wandesford Quay Gallery present the work of sometimes provocative and interdisciplinary artist Mocksim. The solo exhibition is a collection of key works from the artist’s practice which uses digital tools, photography and live art. Expect short looping films, unashamed minimalism and the stupid application of science and photography ad technology. The show includes Now Man, in which participants/performers are challenged to respond to the movements of a spinning video camera, described as a game of “digital narcissism, heady sadism and running about”. Also on display will be Contra-Invention, nominated for the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2012, a series of images re-appropriated by the artist through hacking local government systems, photographs taken by traffic wardens of illegally parked cars in one British town.
A live performance piece will take place at the opening reception on Culture Night between 6 pm and 9pm.
Boundary Works II is organised by CIT Crawford College of Art and Design in association with Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts & School of Engineering and Informatics – University of Sussex, UK
