A solo photography exhibition by Ann McCafferty

During the lovely summer of 2025, I spent many days by the sea, in particular at a special beach from my childhood days – Ballytrent. On one of my many walks when the tide was out, I noticed what I thought was a sandbank in the distance. When I explored further I was presented with a wonderful array of golden seaweed (not sand). This was surrounded by rocks covered in vivid lime green sea grasses lazing in amazing shapes over rocks. Close to all this wonder were large knotty pieces of peat, looking like rocks!! One such structure was just like a peat hag in the hills.

I have tried to capture what I saw in this exhibition with three distinct groupings: the peat rocks; the golden seaweed, the lime green sea grasses.
