Anita Delaney: Pyramidal

Thursday 29 April – Saturday 22 May 2010
Anita Delaney | Anita Delaney: Pyramidal | Thursday 29 April – Saturday 22 May 2010 | Shop Wall Presents:

Working primarily with the medium of video, Pyramidal is an example of Delaney’s ongoing inquires in to communication systems, in particular semiotics and processes of interpretation. Her work is a rotating symmetry of signifiers and at it’s centre is the desire to probe their potentiality. Fundamental to her approach is her choice of video and it’s influence as a time based form, complementing her continual curious investigations. Another inherent strand is the viewer. Sensitised to the ways in which viewers encounter the work, Delaney responds by projecting her video and animations onto three dimensional forms, seeking to transform the customary rectangular screen. These subtle and quiet forms draw in the viewer, becoming an intrinsic element to the processes of her work.

Delaney will be showing Pyramidal, a 2 minute long looped animation. The piece has been reconfigured in response to shop wall.

Anita Delaney graduated with BA Animation in 2005 and BFA in 2006 from IADT-Institute of Art Design and Technology. Since then her work has been screened and exhibited at festivals and galleries nationally and internationally. She is currently an associate member of Temple Bar Gallery and Studios where she occupies a one year Project Studio until December 2010.
