Áitiúil
Áitiúil is a group exhibition exploring the work of five eminent members of the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA), all of whom have a connection with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County.
The artists, now all senior academicians in their seventies and eighties, include former RHA President Carey Clarke PPRHA, Professor of Painting John Coyle RHA, Honorary member Melanie le Brocquy HRHA, George Potter RHA and Professor of Sculpture Imogen Stuart RHA. Áitiúil will present key early, mid –career and recent works from each of the artists oeuvres. The exhibition has been curated by Tara Murphy, Director of Solomon Fine Art, Dublin.

Screening of Hands: Stone (1981) Studio, LexIcon

David and Sally Shaw Smith made ‘Hands’, a unique documentary series on Irish crafts, for RTÉ. They captured the final years of traditional rural and urban life in Ireland, during the 70’s and 80’s. Join us for a very special screening of ‘Stone’ which captured the tradition of stone-working in the Barnacullia/Glencullen area of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County.

Writer and artist Peter Pearson, author of Between the Mountains and the Sea has brought together a unique presentation which asks the question of why so many artists and writers live in the area.

Join Arts Facilitator Bairbre-Ann Harkin on a brief tour and talk about the artworks in Áitiúil. She will talk about the selected artists, artworks and explore some of the themes featured in the exhibition.
