The Éigse Open Submission stands firmly at the heart of the Carlow Arts Festival, now in its 35th year.
The Éigse Award of €4000 for Visual Arts will be presented for the ‘most outstanding work in any medium’. Artist Martin Gale and sculptor Rachel Joynt will select this year’s finalists, containing a balance of all genres, and those works will be exhibited in VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art for the Summer months.
The adjudicators have invited a small number of artists of their own selection to participate in the exhibition, out of competition. These are Charlie Tyrrell, Pat Harris, Geraldine O’Neill, John Doherty, Colin Harrison, Janet Mullarney, Abigail O’Brien, Alice Maher and Sean Hillen.
The winner will be announced at the Opening of the Carlow Arts Festival on Friday 6 June 2014.
All works are for sale to the public.
