21: Cork Printmakers at 21
Cork Printmakers, one of the leading open access print studios in the south of Ireland, is delighted to announce the celebration of its founding 21 years ago, with a major two-venue exhibition of prints and mixed media work, encompassing work from the traditional to the most cutting edge. This exhibition will highlight Cork Printmakers as a serious contender to being the most dynamic print studio in Ireland, and a leading fixture in international print development. This exciting show will feature prints by 68 artists representing all printmaking techniques from etching and lithography to screen and digital prints; from minatures to large scale installations. Earlier this summer an Open Submission call was put out to all artists who have worked with Cork Printmakers over the years. Artists from all across the globe: from Cork to Canada to mainland Europe have contributed to this exhibition, which promises to be a highlight of the Christmas and New Year season in Cork City.
Due to the large number of artworks to be shown, the exhibition will be housed in two venues: The Atrium, City Hall and CIT Wandesford Quay Gallery. Minister Simon Coveney TD, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Marine will officially open the exhibition and announce the Eli Lilly €1,000 Purchase Prize winner, on Friday 7th December at 5pm in The Atrium, City Hall. All guests shall then be invited to continue to CIT Wandesford Quay Gallery at 6.30pm, where Fiona Kearney, Director, Lewis Glucksman Gallery will give the opening remarks for this part of the exhibition.
There will be a major full-colour catalogue available throughout the exhibition.
Opening hours in both venues: 9.30am – 5.30pm Monday – Friday. CIT Wandesford Quay Gallery only will be open on Saturdays. Both venues closed Sundays.
