Dale Chihuly
The Irish public will have a unique opportunity to see the work of one of the world’s most renowned artists working in glass when two major exhibitions open in Dublin on 19 June 2104. Dale Chihuly’s vibrant coloured glass installations and opulent Chandeliers hang in many of the world’s most prestigious museums and public spaces including the Victoria and Albert museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Louvre in Paris and the Corning Museum of Glass New York.
Solomon Fine Art is delighted to present a selection of Chihuly’s signature works. This enchanting and awe inspiring exhibition will be open to the public from June 20 to July 31 and includes key works from Chihuly’s renowned Persian, Macchia, Seaform, Jerusalem & Soft Cylinder series. The Solomon will also be showing a stunning wall-mounted ‘Waterford Sconce’ which incorporates cut glass crystal elements made with the craftsmen at Waterford Crystal during Chihuly’s major ‘Chihuly Over Venice’ international project in 1995.
Simutaneously the world premier of ‘Ulysses Cylinders’ inspired by James Joyce’s Ulysses, opens in the Coach House at Dublin Castle on June 19. This collaborative exhibition combines the alchemic artistry of Dale Chihuly with painter Seaver Leslie’s pen and ink drawings to create a unique collection of golden glass cylinders.
